MANSFIELD, Conn. â€" Bridgewater State College scored the tying run in the ninth and Greg Sunderland knocked in the game-winner with a one-out double in the 10th for a 4-3 victory over Western New England College in a winners bracket game of the 2004 NCAA Division III New England Regional Baseball Tournament.

WNEC (32-13) took a 1-0 lead in the second on a homer by junior leftfielder Chris Mahoney (Yorkville, NY).

The Golden Bears upped their margin to 3-0 with two runs in the fourth following a RBI double by freshman first baseman Tom Horgan (Westfield, MA) and bases loaded walk by junior rightfielder Kyle Hackney (Bristol, CT). Horgan was 2-for-5 with a run.

Bridgewater State (25-14) tallied twice in the seventh to pull within 3-2.

The Golden Bears had runners on first and second with no outs in the ninth, but couldn't score.

Although he didn't figure in the decision, senior righthander David Gwozdz (Ludlow, MA) went nine strong innings allowing eight hits and two earned runs while striking out six and walking three. Junior Ryan Macdonald (Milford, CT) took the loss in relief.

WNEC stole six bases in the game that gave the team a school record 102 for the season. The Golden Bears stranded 13 runners on base.
