Box Score KEENE, N.H. - Western New England College exploded for six unanswered goals in the second half to come away with a 7-2 victory over Husson (Maine) Sunday in the second day of action at the Diadora-Dunkin' Donuts Soccer Showdown at the Keene State Owl Athletic Complex.
Sophomore Dan Lawrence (Easthampton, MA) had two goals for the Golden Bears who improved their record to 3-0. His first goal tied the match in the 23rd minute and his second score knotted the contest in the 53rd minute.
Junior Scott Bullis (Barre, VT) fired home the game-winner in the 56th minute as WNEC rallied from a 2-1 half-time deficit.
Junior Evan Heymann (Ipswich, MA) added a goal and was named the tournament's Offensive MVP. He had a goal and two assists in a 5-0 win over New England College on Staurday.
Senior Kyle Lindsay (Cumberland, RI) also scored for the Golden Bears while freshman David Goncalves (Ludlow, MA) and Dan Hare (Stattsburg, NY) each tallied their first collegiate goals.
Host Keene State also won its second match of the tournament with an easy 8-1 win over New England College.
Western New England College opens its home season at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 7) against Westfield State at Lusitano Field in Ludlow.
