O’Neill, Leland, & Lewis Named To United Soccer Coaches All-Region Teams

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 2, 2025) – Three members of the Western New England men's soccer team have received accolades from the United Soccer Coaches Association, being named to the All-Region Teams. Seniors Shay O'Neill and Jack Leland, and sophomore Tyler Lewis have received accolades this season. The three Golden Bears honored in one season are the most in program history.

Shay O'Neill has been named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team, the first Golden Bear since 2017 to receive first-team acknowledgements. O'Neill played in 19 games this season for Western New England men's soccer, starting in 18 games overall. The Belchertown, Massachusetts, native scored a pair of goals and added two assists on year in 2025, collecting six points. O'Neill took 32 shots during the season, putting 14 on goal. Over his four-year career in blue and gold, O'Neill played in 74 games, making 70 starts, scoring four goals and adding nine assists, good for 17 points overall. O'Neill caps off his career by playing in 4,870 minutes on the pitch. 

Jack Leland earns honors on the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team for the second straight season, earning second-team honors in 2025 after his third-team selection last season. Leland played in and made starts in all 20 games for the Golden Bears this past season. The leader of the defensive core for the Golden Bears, Leland also contributed on the offensive end, scoring three goals and picking up an assist. All seven points for the WNE senior came in Conference of New England games. Leland took 18 shots, putting ten shots on goal. The Brimfield, Massachusetts, native played in 1,712 minutes on the year, all but 88 minutes. 

Tyler Lewis has been a key contributor to the WNE men's soccer offense during his two years, including picking up 25 points during the 2025 season. Lewis played in all 20 games for the Golden Bears and made 20 starts. Lewis scored ten goals, nine of which came against Conference of New England opponents. Lewis also tallied five assists during the season, four coming in CNE play. Lewis took 61 shots during the season, putting up 30 shots on goal, and had four game-winning goals on the year, all coming against CNE opponents. Lewis has scored 20 goals and has six assists over his two years in blue and gold, playing in all 41 games, making 41 starts. Lewis has 126 shots and 57 shots on goal over his career and has scored eight game-winning goals. 

The Western New England men's soccer team came away with a 9-8-3 record in 2025, with a 6-3-1 mark in CNE play. The Golden Bears ended their season in the CNE Semifinals with a penalty kick loss to Roger Williams University, the eventual champion of the conference.
