BOSTON, Mass. - Western New England College had to work overtime for the third straight match, but came away with a 2-1 women's soccer victory over Simmons College Saturday (Oct. 7) when junior Danielle Matte (Nashua, NH) scored the winning goal with 16 seconds left in the first extra session in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest.

Freshman Angie Zguro (East Longmeadow, MA) had the assist on the winning shot.

The Golden Bears, who had tied Emmanuel and Norwich in the past week, raised their record to 6-4-2 and stayed unbeaten in the conference with a 3-0-2 mark.

The Sharks took a 1-0 lead when Hannah Kimball scored an unassisted goal in the 26th minute.

Western New England College tied the game when freshman Kristen Culver (West Springfield, MA) headed the ball in the net on a corner kick from senior tri-captain Kristin Thornton (Bedford, NH) with nine seconds left in the first half.

WNEC senior goalie Marisa Sullivan (Halesite, NY) made four saves while Rachel Elliott also had four stops for Simmons (1-11, 1-5).
