Box Score PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Senior pitching ace Jason Connelly (Scituate, MA) picked up his first win of the season and four players had two hits apiece as the Western New England College baseball team posted a 9-4 victory over Bowdoin Monday.
Connelly, a righthander, allowed 11 hits and four earned runs in 7 2/3 innings, but struck out five and didn't allow a walk as the Golden Bears raised their record to 2-0.
Sophomore designated hitter Travis Schwamb (West Springfield, MA) went 2-for-3 with two runs. He had the game-winning RBI the day before against Massachusetts College.
Junior catcher Steve Hanjack (Enfield, CT) and junior leftfielder Eric Smolin (Westford, MA) each went 2-for-5 with two runs-batted-in while junior third baseman Josh Jacobs (Essex Junction, VT) had a 2-for-5 afternoon with two runs.
Also for the Golden Bears, junior designated hitter Chris Fredericks (Wallingford, CT) went 1-for-2 with two RBI while sophomore shortstop Ryan Kravontka (Glastonbury, CT) went 1-for-3 with a RBI double, two runs, and a pair of walks.
