Playing their third game in less than 24 hours, Golden Bears roll to easy win over Nichols

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Playing its third game in less than 24 hours, the Western New England College baseball team rolled to an easy 19-6 victory over Nichols College Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman Rick Muir (Easton, CT) allowed only one earned run and seven hits in seven innings to gain his collegiate victory. He walked four and struck out three.

Freshman Chris Cecchetelli (Pleasantville, NY) made a memorable debut for the Golden Bears by hitting a home run on the first pitch in his first collegiate at-bat.

Junior first baseman Tom Horgan (Westfield, MA) and junior centerfielder Garrison Ward (Wyckoff, NJ) each had four hits. Horgan also had a double, triple, and two RBI. 

Junior third baseman Josh Jacobs (Essex Junction, VT) added two hits, including his second homer of the season.

Sophomore designated hitter Travis Schwamb (West Springfield, MA) contributed a pair of hits and a RBI.

Western New England College, which split a doubleheader yesterday, improves its record to 4-1
