MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - In a battle of nationally-ranked teams, No. 8 Wesleyan jumped to an early lead and never looked back in posting a 13-5 victory over No. 17 Western New England College in a non league men's lacrosse game Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Bears (4-1) trailed 3-0 after the first quarter and 5-1 at halftime in suffering their first loss of the season.

Juniors Adam Cherry (Westfield, MA), Zack Sondrini (Pittsfield, MA), and sophomores Travis Brown (Montpelier, VT), Bryan Cofrin (Londenderry, NH), and Mike Kelly (Cheshire, CT) scored the goals for Western New England College. Senior Mark Bergey (Ambler, PA) had an assist.

Wesleyan (4-0) received four goals and an assist from Russell Follansbee.
