Western New England College rally falls short in one run loss at Endicott

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Western New England College baseball team scored four times in the ninth inning, but fell a run short in dropping a 6-5 decision to Endicott College in a non-conference game Wednesday at North Field.

The Golden Bears had four of their seven hits in the final frame that featured a RBI double by junior center fielder Garrison Ward (Wyckoff, NJ),  a two-run double by sophomore designated player Travis Schwamb (West Springfield, MA), and a run-scoring single by junior third baseman Josh Jacobs (Essex Junction, VT). Sophomore shortstop Ryan Kravontka (Glastonbury, CT) went 2-for-2 with a walk and run-batted-in.

Western New England College had 11 walks in the game, but wound up leaving 10 runners on base.

Endicott (17-14) broke a 1-1 tie when freshman left fielder Joe Paciello (Worcester, MA) belted a three-run homer in the sixth. The Gulls added two more runs in the seventh.

The Golden Bears (25-8) return to action with a home game against Brandeis starting at 3;30 p.m. Friday (Apri l21) at Trelease Park.
