Tom Horgan and Mike Beck pace Western New England College past Elms

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Senior first baseman Tom Horgan (Westfield, MA) went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBI to lead the Western New England College baseball team to a 22-1 victory over visiting Elms College in a non-league game Tuesday afternoon (April 10) at Trelease Park.

Sophomore left fielder/right fielder Mike Beck (Whitesboro, MA) also went 4-for-5 with three runs as the Golden Bears raised their record to 13-7.

Junior shortstop Ryan Kravontka (Glastonbury, CT) had a double and three runs. Sophomore left fielder Josh Kirson (Short Hills, NJ) contributed a three-run triple in the seventh inning. Sophomore pinch-hitter Adam Crisafulli (Loudonville, NY) had a RBI double in his first collegiate at-bat.

Senior Eric Blanchard (Worcester, MA) went five innings allowing four hits with three strikeouts and no walks for his third win of the season against only one loss.

Western New England College scored five times in the second and exploded for seven runs in both the third and eighth innings.

Twenty-four players appeared in the game for the Golden Bears, including all of their position performers.

Sophomore right fielder Joe Esile (Milford, CT) went 2-for-4 with a double and run for the Blazers who fall to 3-13-1.
