Team effort leads Western New England College past Mount Holyoke

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Western New England College ran its winning streak to six games with a 19-7 victory over visiting Mount Holyoke College in a non-league outing Wednesday afternoon (April 12). The Golden Bears raised their record to 7-3 after compiling their third highest scoring total of the season.

Junior Kayte Devine (New Fairfield, CT) led a balanced scoring attack with four goals and an assist. Junior Kaitlin Zangle (Wingdale, NY) and sophomore Lindsey Fenton (Amherst, MA) each tallied three times while sophomore Michelle DeBellis (Wantagh, NY) had two goals. Senior Audrey Kelton (Wilder, VT) chipped in with a goal and four assists.

Sophomore goalie Brie Sylvia (West Tisbury, MA) played another strong game finishing with 19 saves.

Western New England College broke a 2-2 tie by scoring seven consecutive goals to take an 11-3 lead at half-time.

Junior Danielle Babcock (Lexington, MA) led the Lyons with three goals while freshman Katie Dahill (Belmont, MA) contributed two goals. Mount Holyoke now has a 2-8 record.

Western New England College visits Thomas College in a New England College Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) game on Saturday (April 14). That contest will be played at Colby College in Waterville, Maine.
