No. 23 Wheaton scored single runs in the first three innings and coasted to an 8-2 victory over the Golden Bears Saturday afternoon (Mar. 14).
WNEC (0-2) scored both of its runs in the ninth on a RBI double by freshman third baseman Matt Fleishman (East Northport, NY) and run-scoring single by senior leftfielder Mike Beck (Whitesboro, NY).

Freshman hird baseman Dan Haugh (Andover, MA) had a single and two-run blast (his fourth in eight contests) in the sixth while junior leftfielder Paul Malaguti (Andover, MA) also had two RBI with a single and solo shot in the second.
Seior pitcher Brian Hughes (Dudley, MA) tossed six shutout innings allowing only five hits (all sinles).
Senior Bryan Calzone (Bethel, CT) went 5 1/3 innings giving up five hits, five runs (four earned) with three strikeouts and a walk in suffering the loss.
Both teams competed in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship last season.
