Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Evan Michaud (Windsor Locks, CT) pitched seven strong innings and senior leftfielder Mike Beck (Whitesboro, NY) had three hits to lead Western New England College to an 11-2 victory over visiting Springfield in a non-league baseball game Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 31) at Trelease Park.
The Golden Bears improve their record to 11-7 after playing their 18th game in the last 18 days. The Pride falls to 3-13.
Michaud, a right-hander, allowed only five hits with four strikeouts and two walks in raising his record to 2-1. Both of the runs scored against him were unearned.
Beck scored three runs and had a stolen base to lead the 13-hit attack.
Junior first baseman Joe Griglun (Southington, CT) added a single, double, run scored, and knocked in two runs with a pair of sacrifice flies.
Senior centerfielder Chris Newell (Wallingford, CT) contributed a pair of singles with two RBI, a run scored, and stolen base.
Freshman catcher Jason LeClerc (Chicopee, MA) chipped-in with a pair of singles, RBI, and two runs scored.
WNEC scored four times in the third and three times in the fourth for an early 7-0 lead.
