John Parsons (Sunderland, MA) scored the game-winner with 3:31 remaining to lead #25 Western New England College to a 1-0 victory over visiting Springfield College in the championship match of the Soccer City Shootout Sunday afternoon (Sept. 6) at Suprenant Field.
Senior midfielder
Tony Rosa (Ludlow, MA) had the assist on the winning shot as the Golden Bears won both contests in the tournament by shutouts following a 2-0 win over Westfield on Saturday (Sept. 5).
Western New England College (2-0) had a 22-7 shot advantage, but couldn't find the back of the net thanks to a strong performance by Pride freshman goalkeeper
Chris Walton (Cromwell, CT) who made eight saves. SC falls to 1-1.
WNEC senior goalie
Kyle Bak (Cumberland, CT) stopped two shots and was selected the Defensive MVP of the Tournament after compiling 11 saves in the two matches.
Springfield senior midfielder
James Ashcroft (Shelton, CT) was voted the Offensive MVP after scoring a goal with an assist in a 2-0 win over Husson yesterday.

Alex Dos Santos (Ludlow, MA) each made the All-Tournament Team along with Walton, senior defender
Elliot Megguier (Bangor, ME) and sophomore forward
Tyler Metevier (Kittery, ME) of Husson, and sophomore defender

In the third place-match, senior forward
Mark Trombley (Burnham, ME) tallied the winning goal with 26 seconds left in overtime to lift Husson to its first win with a come-from-behind 4-3 victory over Westfield State.
The Eagles trailed 3-1 at halftime before Metevier sent the contest into an extra session with his third goal of the game with 27 seconds remaining in regulation.
Sophomore forward
John Severns (Suffield, CT) netted a pair of goals for the Owls who fall to 0-2-1.
Junior goalkeeper
Miguel Dominiguez (Rome, GA) compiled 10 saves for Husson (1-2) while senior goalie
Lucas Dexter (Acushnet, MA) had 10 stops for Westfield State.
