Western New England runs winning streak to four after defeating league rival Regis on Senior Day

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
-- The Western New England College women's lacrosse team ran its winning streak to four games with a 19-2 victory over visiting Regis Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 20).

WNEC is now 9-6 overall and 7-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) while the Pride drop to 1-11 and 0-9 in the league.

Before the game, the Golden Bears honored Lindsey Fenton (Pelham, MA), Jackie Gannon (Saunderstown, RI), and Jen Tempone (New Hyde Park, NY) during Senior Day ceremonies. 

Junior attacker Jeanmarie Barbato (Huntington Station, NY) led the attack with four goals.

Sophomore attacker Ariana Buckley (Springfield, MA) added two goals and four assists while Fenton tallied a pair of goals with three assists and four ground balls.

Also scoring twice were freshman midfielder Megan Doyle (Putnam Valley, NY) (who also had an assist) and freshman attacker Julianne Green (Brightwaters, NY).

Junior attacker Marisa Hebert (Saco, ME), and freshmen attackers Carolyn Gilland (Middlebury, CT) and Gina Johnson (Portland, ME), and freshman defender Jillian Saley (Stratford, CT) each contributed a goal and assist. Hebert also collected 15 draw controls.

Gannon, sophomore attacker Katie Toomy (Northborough, MA) and sophomore midfielder Liz McRoberts (Bourne, MA) had the other goals. Junior defender Nicole Poli (Medfield, MA) chipped-in with two assists while junior attacker Nicole Squadrito (Ellington, CT) and freshman attacker Ali Pepe (North Reading, MA) both had an assist.

Junior goalie Marissa Bonitatibus (Yorktown Heights, NY) played the opening 10 minutes, 45 seconds before giving way to junior Erin Doherty (Westford, MA) who compiled four saves with two goals allowed.

Western New England College rolled to a 14-0 lead at intermission.

Sophomore midfielder Teresa Crevier (Milford, MA) netted both goals for the Pride while junior Alycia Murray (Danvers, MA) stopped 14 shots.
