SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Junior
Zach Cloft (Glastonbury, CT) won his first game in his first collegiate start as Western New England College downed No. 11 Eastern Connecticut 11-6 in a non-league baseball game Monday afternoon (April 5) at Trelease Park.
Cloft gave up only three hits and two runs (one earned) in five innings while walking five and striking out five.
Prior to this year, the hard-throwing lefty had pitched only 3 1/3 innings in three contests. This was his fifth outing of the season after four relief appearances, and first decision of his career.
Senior first baseman
Joe Griglun (Southington, CT) led the 11-hit attack with three hits, including a pair of doubles. He scored a run and finished with four RBI.
Junior designated hitter
Ryan Dudzinski (Bristol, CT) singled, doubled, and also knocked in four runs while scoring three times. He stole three bases, giving him a team high 14 for the season.
Junior catcher
Jason LeClerc (Chicopee, MA) singled and doubled, scored twice, and had a RBI.
Sophomore right fielder
Tom Bouvier (East Longmeadow, MA) added two hits with a run and RBI.
Sophomore
Mike Lawlor (Windsor, CT) pitched two-and-a-third innings of scoreless relief giving up only two hits with a walk and four strikeouts to earn his third save of the season.
Western New England College scored four runs in the second and three times in the fourth to build a 9-0 lead after five innings.

Chris Thomson (Montville, CT) over the center field fence the big blow. Five of the runs were unearned.
