SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Western New England men's tennis team continued its winning ways with an impressive 8-1 victory over Eastern Nazarene Saturday (Apr. 16).
The Golden Bears raised their record to 12-2 with their 12th consecutive win and remained perfect in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) at 8-0.
Sophomore
Chris Holzinger (Foster, RI) gained two big points after posting a 6-1, 6-2 decision at number two singles and teaming with senior captain
Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, NY) for an 8-2 win at number one doubles.
Junior
JonPaul Ouellette (Bethlehem, CT) took his number three singles match 6-1, 6-3 and posted an 8-4 victory at number two doubles with senior
Tim Santye (Skillman, NJ).
The Lion's lone points came at number one singles where sophomore
Austin Steelman (Darlington, MD) compiled a 6-3, 6-3 win.
Eastern Nazarene is now 9-8 and 5-5 in conference play.
