BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Senior
Andrew Fatse (Hampden, MA) had two hits, including a key two-run single in the sixth, as the Western New England baseball team ended its regular season with a 10-8 non-conference victory over Bridgewater State Friday afternoon (Apr. 29) at Alumni Park.
This was the fifth road win in as many days for the Golden Bears who raised their record to 32-8. The BSU Bears now have a 16-14 mark.
Fatse, who was making his first start of the season as the designated hitter, delivered what proved to be the winning hit with two outs and the count at 2-and-2.
Bridgewater State rallied for two runs in the ninth and had the tying runs on base before senior
Matt Rogers (Portsmouth, RI) got the final two outs for his first save of the year.
Sophomore shortstop
Kyle McKelvey (Schenectady, NY) collected a pair of hits and finished with three RBI. Senior catcher
Jason Leclerc (Chicopee, MA) and sophomore right-fielder
Matt Anthonis (Guilford, CT) each scored three runs.
The Golden Bears took a 2-0 lead in the first inning for the third straight contest when senior left-fielder
Ryan Dudzinski (Bristol, CT) led-off with a single, stole second, and came home on a sacrifice fly by sophomore second baseman

Tony Trubia (Tolland, CT) followed with a double and Leclerc drove in Rubino with a sacrifice fly.
Bridgewater tied the score in the first and took a 5-2 lead with three unearned runs in the second with a solo homer by sophomore center-fielder
John Garabedian (Mansfield, MA) and two-run blast by junior left-fielder
Ian Williams (Taunton, MA) the big hits.
McKelvey's two-run single in the third cut the margin to one before junior shortstop
Corey Batista (Fall River, MA) gave the hosts a 6-4 lead with a sacrifice fly.
Western New England answered with four runs in the fourth to go by two following RBI singles by Trubia, Anthonis, junior first baseman

Joshua Ferreira (Fall River, Mass.) led off the ninth home run. One out later, three consecutive singles loaded the bases before Rogers entered the game. He struck out the first batter he faced, but allowed a run to score on a wild pitch. He then got the final out on a pop-up.
Senior
Zach Cloft (Glastonbury, CT) earned the win on the mound in relief of junior starter
Mark DiTommaso (Hebron, CT). Cloft worked four innings and gave up just one run on one hit with a walk and five strikeouts in moving his record to 7-1.
The Golden Bears finished with 15 hits (14 singles) as every player in the starting lineup had at least one hit.
Williams paced the Bears 11-hit attack by going 3-for-5 with three runs and two RBI. Bridgewater State used six pitchers who issued nine walks with eight strikeouts. Junior reliever
