Visiting Western New England defeats Brandeis 10-2 for fourth consecutive victory

WALTHAM, Mass. – Junior third baseman Mike Rubino (Northford, CT) had three hits and knocked in four runs to lead the Western New England baseball team to a 10-2 victory over Brandeis Thursday (Mar. 29) at the Stein Diamond.

This was the fourth consecutive win for the Golden Bears who are now 9-6. WNE has scored 10 runs in each of its last three contests.

Western New England banged out 14 hits with Rubino collecting one of the team's six doubles.

Junior right fielder Matt Anthonis (Guilford, CT) singled twice, doubled, and scored three runs.

Senior designated hitter Mike Taylor (Andover, MA) and junior shortstop Kyle McKelvey (Schenectady, NY) each contributed two hits, run scored, and a RBI.

Junior Mike Lospinuso (West Islip, NY) pitched the first seven innings giving up nine hits and a run. He struck out three and didn't walk a batter in getting his first win of the year in two decisions.

The Golden Bears took an early 6-0 advantage after scoring twice in the second, third, and fourth innings.

Brandeis finished with 10 hits with graduate student first baseman Pat Nicholson (Walpole, MA) just missing hitting for the cycle with a single, double, and triple.

Junior right fielder Pat Seaward (York, ME) and freshman designated hitter Dan Gad (Mansfield, MA) each added two hits.

The Judges (5-16) used five pitchers with freshman Kyle Brennan (Brookfield, MA) getting the loss.
