WESTFIELD, Mass. – Junior right fielder
Matt Anthonis (Guilford, CT) had four hits and knocked in four runs to lead the Western New England baseball team to a 15-5 victory over Westfield State Thursday (Apr. 19) at Alumni Field.
The Golden Bears, who broke a 2-2 tie with seven runs in the sixth inning, are now 21-9 while the Owls drop to 13-15.
Freshman first baseman
Steve Buckley (Monroe, CT) also had four RBI after knocking in two runs with a double in the sixth, then belting his first collegiate homer (a two-run shot) in the ninth.
Junior third baseman
Mike Rubino (Northford, CT) had a single, double, and triple with a RBI and two runs scored. Junior center fielder
Jeff Schult (Wappingers Falls, NY) also collected three hits and had two runs scored with a pair of RBI.
Junior shortstop
Kyle McKelvey (Schenectady, NY) walked three times and scored three runs.
Freshman
Trevor Breton (Enfield, CT) pitched two innings in relief allowing an unearned run and one hit with two walks and a pair of strikeouts to raise his record to 5-1.
Westfield State had 10 hits in the game with senior left fielder

Kevin Greene (Worcester, MA), junior catcher
Andrew Medeiros (Acushnet, MA), and freshman designated hitter
Nick Champeau (Southbridge, MA) each getting two singles. Blair and Medeiros also had two RBI apiece.
The Owls employed six pitchers with sophomore
Mike Sullivan (East Sandwich, MA) (3-3) getting the loss.
