Tim Murray Records Third Goal of the Season in 2-1 Loss at Crosstown Rival Springfield College

Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Ryan Malone scored in the 6th minute to set the tone for Springfield's 2-1 victory Tuesday evening over visiting Western New England in non-conference men's soccer action at the Irv Schmid Sports Complex. The Pride improve to 7-2 on the season while the Golden Bears fall to 7-3-1 overall after seeing their five-game unbeaten streak snapped.

Danny Amato made it 2-0 in favor of the Pride on a feed from Michael Fowler in the 30th minute.

Junior Tim Murray came off the bench to put WNE on the scoreboard just before the end of the first half in the 41st minute, depositing his third goal of the year. Senior Ryan Williams chalked up his team-best fifth assist on the play.

Springfield held small advantages in shots (13-10), shots on goal (6-5) and corner kicks (5-3).

Both goalkeepers--senior co-captain Domenick Villano for WNE and Billy Schmid of the Pride--made three saves.
