SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Visiting Curry College swept three doubles matches and won five of six singles to earn an 8-1 Commonwealth Coast Conference women's tennis victory over Western New England University at the Volvo Outdoor Courts on Saturday. The Colonels, who will be the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CCC Championship Tournament, improve to 8-5 overall and 5-3 in the conference, while the Golden Bears conclude their fall season at 4-9 and 1-7.
Emily Mongello, Kimberly Love and Lauren Chuha were double winners for the Colonels.
Freshman
Caleigh Curran picked up the Golden Bears' lone point with a win at No. 1 singles over Megan Mulrooney, who retired due to injury after losing the first set 7-5 and was trailing 4-1 in the second.
"This has been a season of adjustments, and I am very proud of how our players responded to that," WNE coach Jennifer Kolins said. "They played their hearts out today and left everything on the court. There is great disappointment that our fall campaign has ended today, but we also have a great, positive mindset going into our winter and spring season."
Western New England Women's Tennis would like to thank its Faculty Fellow Josie Brown-Rose for her support of the program, on and off the court this season, attending every home match this fall.
