Emily Castleman made a season-high 10 saves, to propel Western New England to a convincing 14-8 victory Tuesday over visiting Salve Regina in the conference opener for both squads. The Golden Bears improve to 4-0 for their best start since 2002 while the Seahawks dip to 1-2 on the season.
Jennifer Jones paced Salve's attack with four goals while Kelly Burke added three points and four ground balls.
Western New England got off to a quick start by scoring five times in the opening 7 minutes and 3 seconds after the first draw control.

Kaitlynn Stevens scored her second of the afternoon and CCC-leading 16th goal with 25 seconds left as the Golden Bears enjoyed a 9-4 halftime advantage. The Golden Bears increased their lead to 11-4 as sophomore tri-captain

Kelsey Sherman's seventh of the year and scoring the game's final tally with 6:04 left.
Western New England outshot Salve 37 to 20, including a 30-18 margin with shots on goal. The Golden Bears also led in the ground ball department, 29-25, including five by Castleman.
Josephine O'Reilly tried to keep the Seahawks in the game with 16 saves, but Salve turned the ball over 28 times.
