SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Nationally No. 6-ranked Montclair State scored once in each half to earn a 2-0 win Sunday over host Western New England in the championship game of the 2013 Soccer City Shootout at Suprenant Field.
The Red Hawks improve to 2-0 on the young season, outscoring their Shootout opponents by a 6-0 aggregate. The Golden Bears fall to 1-1.

Ryan Dickinson represented Western New England on the all-tournament team.
Western New England battled Montclair to a scoreless tie until the 38th minute when Dan Mendoza received a right-wing pass from Trey Leggett at the top of the box and rifled a right-footed shot inside the left post to put the visitors up 1-0.
In the second half, Mike Olla added an insurance goal, unassisted, in the 73rd minute.

Domenick Villano kept the Golden Bears in the game by making several terrific saves in goal, finishing with 10 stops. The Red Hawks outshot WNE by a 27-10 margin for the contest, including 15-1 in the first 45 minutes.

In the third-place game earlier in the afternoon, Westfield State (1-1) won 1-0 over Emmanuel (0-2) on a late goal by Kristian Driscoll from Dom Cavallini with 3 minutes and 10 seconds remaining. The Owls held a 12-5 edge in shots.  ÂÂ
