Box Score 2 LAKELAND, Fla.--Western New England and Bowdoin traded 2-1 wins on Saturday in a non-conference doubleheader at Lake Bonny Park on the Golden Bears' second day of the 2014 RussMatt Central Florida Baseball Invitational. Western New England now stands at 2-3 overall and the Polar Bears are 6-1 on the season.
In Game One, seniorÂÂ
Taylor Searles broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with a single to score junior
Matt Anziano from second base for the game-winning run.
Sophomore
Chris Casey, Searles and Anziano had two hits apiece to lead the Golden Bears offense.
Junior
Trevor Breton earned the complete-game win (2-0), getting nine strikeouts and working around five walks, a hitbatsmen and four hits.
In the second game, Searles had a run batted in on a fourth-inning single to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Junior
Steve Buckley had a double while Anziano and Casey had singles to help account for WNE's four hits.
Senior pitcher
Brendan Nugent struck out seven while going the distance, but was the hard-luck loser after Bowdoin was staked to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third on an error that led to an unearned run and two hits.
Western New England continues the Invitational at 9:30 a.m. Sunday against UMass-Dartmouth.
