Daniel Morin went 3-for-3, plus two walks, and had three runs batted in to lead a potent offense as Western New England routed Trinity-Conn., 11-1, in a RussMatt Baseball Invitational game at Chain of Lakes Park on Monday.
The Golden Bears improve to 3-4 on the season, while the Bantams fall even to 2-2. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out and a make-up date is yet to be determined.
Western New England established season highs with 11 runs, 15 hits, 10 RBI, 21 total bases and margin of victory (10 runs).

Steve Ambrosino added three hits for the WNE offense, while sophomores

Kevin Marciano and freshman
Kyle Maglio chipped in two apiece.
Daniel Pidgeon had three of Trinity's eight hits and Scott Huley had a double.
Western New England took a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the very first inning when Marciano scored on a wild pitch and Morin singled home what proved to be the game-winning run.
The Golden Bears scored three times in the third to stretch their lead to 5-0. Marciano led off with his first career home run, followed by senior
Taylor Searles forcing in a run after he was hit by a pitch and then Maglio had a RBI-single.
Senior
Ryan Skelly picked up his first career win after scattering eight hits over 6-plus innings. He walked none and struck out three. Skelly lost his shutout bid in the fourth when Pidgeon singled home Huley for the Bantams' only run of the game.
Western New England scored four runs on five hits and two walks in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach. Junior
Matt Anziano capped the rally with a RBI-double.
Umpires called the game after Carson Kenney singled to begin the Trinity seventh when bad weather rolled into the area.
Western New England will take the day off on Tuesday before resuming Invitational action at 4 p.m. Wednesday against William Paterson at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale.
