Daniel Morin Goes 2-for-3 with a Double and Run Batted In in 20-5 Loss to Amherst

Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Fla.--Amherst College used a 19-hit attack and took advantage of eight walks issued by six Western New England University pitchers to defeat the Golden Bears, 20-5, in 2015 RussMatt Central Florida Baseball Invitational action on Monday at Chain of Lakes Park 1. The Lord Jeffs won their first game in four starts this season while Western New England dips to 1-4.

Sophomore Daniel Morin went 2-for-3 to lead the WNE offense, which had seven hits. He had a RBI-double in the bottom of the sixth inning. Senior Steve Buckley, juniors Chris Casey, Doug Milne, Eduardo Colmenares, and sophomore Kyle Maglio added a hit apiece for the Golden Bears.

For Amherst, Mike Odenwaelder went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and two runs batted in and Yanni Thanopoulos went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a sacrifice fly, seven RBI. Thanopoulos slammed a three-run blast for a home run to cap a six-run fourth frame as Amherst took command with a 9-1 advantage.
