SPRINGFIELD, Mass.--Junior Adam Zimmerman led the Western New England University men's tennis team with two points, but visiting Eastern Nazarene College was able to come from behind to take a 6-3 victory from the Golden Bears on Saturday at the Volvo Outdoor Courts. Today's match signaled the Golden Bears' Play4Jody Day in honor of Athletics Business Manager Jody Lemoi, who is fighting leukemia.

Western New England falls to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference while the Lions improve to 8-6 on the season and 2-3 in the conference.

Zimmerman teamed up with classmate Alexander Sause at No. 2 doubles for an 8-4 win over Sam Son and Davis Steelman. Zimmerman also bested the Steelman in a No. 5 singles thriller, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5.

A win by the senior tandem of Chris Spear and Greg Tischofer over Andres Biondi and Tyler Perron, 8-4, gave WNE a 2-1 lead going into the singles competition.

The Lions, however, got the win after taking five of six singles bouts.

Western New England is scheduled to end the regular season at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts CCC foe Nichols College. It will be Senior Day for the Golden Bears.
