BRISTOL, R.I. (April 11, 2021) – The Western New England University baseball team split their doubleheader with Roger Williams in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Sunday afternoon at Paolino Field.

Game 1: Western New England 3, Roger Williams 1
Sophomore Vincent Caccavale went 2-for-3 with one RBI for the Golden Bears. Senior Kevin Hummer went the distance with eight strikeouts and only allowing one run. 

George Somers and Matt Massaro both had two hits for the Hawks.

Western New England jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning after Caccavale hit an RBI single and junior Ben Harrison scored on a wild pitch. The score remained 2-0 until the fifth inning when senior Jake Balderston scored on an error from the Hawks' defense. Danny Roth homered for Roger Williams in the seventh, but the Golden Bears held on for the win.

Game 2: Roger Williams 14, Western New England 4
Seven different players had one hit for the Golden Bears, including sophomore Jake Gerraughty who also had two RBI's.

Joey Gulino went 5-for-5 for the Hawks, while Brandon Jenkins had four hits and Eddy Jackson had three hits.

The Hawks jumped out to an early 6-0 inning after two innings. The Golden Bears cut into the deficit after the fifth inning, down just 8-4. Roger Williams extended their lead again in the next half inning.
