Women's Swimming Races Past UMass-Dartmouth and Elms in Tri-Meet

Dartmouth, Mass. (November 11, 2022) – The Golden Bears returned to UMass-Dartmouth for a tri-meet with Elms and UMass-Dartmouth. After recent success, the women hoped to carry that over against both teams.

Scores:

Western New England:109

UMass-Dartmouth: 96

Elms College: 32

How it Happened:

WNE started the meet with a win in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Caitlin Guntly, Amanda Robinson, Alexa Adams, and Caitlin Hall took down UMass-Dartmouth's team. Megan Morissey and Katarina DaSilva grabbed second and third place in the 1000-yard freestyle. That was followed by Adams and Morgan Potler getting second and third in the 200 freestyle. Potler dropped four seconds from the seed time in that swim. The 50 backstroke saw more success as Guntly took home first place and nine points. Robinson and Hailey Dion got in the water for the 100 breaststroke and placed first and second in that race. Dion's time was a personal best.

As the meet moved on, more and more success came for the women. Renee Lussier got third place, and Amanda Pillard got fifth. Both swimmers secured points for the team in that race. The 100 freestyle was the next event; another event won by the Golden Bears. Hall took home first place, and Adams gained more points for the team in that event by placing fifth. Next, Guntly and Taylor Gravel swam the 200 backstroke for the team. Guntly placed first and earned nine more points for the team. Gravel grabbed fifth place and earned an extra point for WNE.

As the meet neared an end, the Golden Bears got better and better. Robinson and Dion took first and second in the 200-yard breaststroke. Dion improved the seed time by over six seconds. Morissey and DaSilva followed that up with best times in the 500 freestyle. Guntly got second in the 100 butterfly, while Robinson got first, and Dion got third in the 200 IM. The meet finished with the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Golden Bears got second and secured a sweep of the meet by beating UMass-Dartmouth and Elms College.

Up Next:

The Golden Bears will return home for a tri-meet against Gordon College and Rhode Island College. That meet will be in the CAHLC on Saturday, November 12, at noon.
