D3football.com All-Region I Team

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 12, 2024) – Western New England football graduate student Jason Shumilla has earned recognition from D3football.com, being named to the All-Region Third Team on defense after putting together an outstanding season on the field in 2024. This is the first time in which Shumilla has been honored by the organization.

Shumilla collected career highs in nearly every statistical category this season for the Golden Bears football team. His 34 solo tackles and 32 assisted tackles on the year were tied for first on the team, with both numbers being career highs. Shumilla picked up 5.5 tackles for loss on the season, dropping his opponents back ten yards. The graduate student came away with two interceptions on the year, one of which was taken back for his first career touchdown, while also recording three pass breakups and one fumble recovery on the year.

Shumilla joins 13 other student-athletes from the Conference of New England members to be named to the All-Region Teams. The Cheshire, Connecticut native was named to the third team defense at the safety position.

The Western New England football team wrapped up their 2024 campaign with a 6-4 record and a 3-2 mark in CNE play overall.
