Men’s Wrestling Duo Named Final Golden Bear Athletes of the Week Of 2025

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (December 15, 2025) – A pair of wrestlers from the Western New England men's wrestling team have earned Golden Bear Athletes of the Week this week following their performances at this past weekend's Scott Viera Open at Roger Williams University.

Antonio Intintoli was a second-place finisher for the Golden Bears over the weekend, going 4-1 overall. The WNE sophomore ranked fourth overall heading into the 133 lb. weight class bracket, advancing to the round of 16 after a bye in the opening round of the bracket. In his first true match of the day, Intintoli defeated Springfield College's Dillon Daukantas on a 20-7 major decision, advancing to the quarterfinals of the bracket. There, Intintoli defeated Adam Distasio of Bridgewater State University on a 17-2 technical fall in 2:44, getting into the semifinals. The semifinals saw the Port Washington, New York, native pick up an 8-1 win over Matteo Eagleson of Roger Williams University to get into the championship match. Intintoli came up with a second-place finish after falling just short in the 133 lb. championship match.

David Lisk wrestled in the 157 lb. weight class for the Golden Bears at the Scott Viera Open this weekend, accumulating a 3-1 record overall, taking second place. Lisk opened the weight class with a dominant victory in the round of 16 over Springfield's JT Roden, grabbing a technical fall win, 19-3 in 6:18, to advance to the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals found more success for Lisk, as the senior picked up his second technical fall win of the day, defeating Austin Rasmussen of Roger Williams University 16-1 in 4:26. Lisk advanced to the semifinal round and picked up a resounding 9-3 decision victory over Jacob Jones from Green Farms Academy, getting into the championship match. Lisk hung close in the championship bout before falling 7-0 on a decision, coming up with a second-place finish overall.

The Western New England men's wrestling team will dual with Johnson & Wales University on Wednesday, December 17, at 12:00 PM at the Anthony S. Caprio Alumni Healthful Living Center in Springfield, a change from the originally scheduled match set in Providence, Rhode Island.
