Willimantic, Conn. (April 18, 2025) – The Golden Bears were in Willimantic, Connecticut for the Bonnie Edmondson Classic on Friday. The Golden Bears accumulated 16 top-ten finishes, including a 3,000m race win from Matt Provost at the end of the meet. Kayla Kyles and Nolan Palmer qualified for the New England Division III Championships.

How it Happened:
In the field events, Ja'Naz Williams would place ninth in the men's Shot Put event. Williams earned ninth with a long throw of 11.67m. Jonathan Eylander would place eighth in the men's Discus event with a 35.01m throw on attempt one, which was Eylander's best. The Golden Bears saw Kayla Kyles place fifth and earn four points for the team in the women's Long Jump event with a best jump of 5.19m. That would qualify Kyles for the New England Division III Championships.
On the track, the 4x100m relay team of Jason Pratt, De'Andre Harris, Aiden Cooney, and Amari Blake would place ninth for the Golden Bears and score the team two points with a time of 52.09. Then, Nina Garofalo placed fourth, Olivia Kay placed sixth, and Lauren Vossler placed ninth in the women's 1,500m race. Garofalo ran a time of 5:24.23 to earn five points for the Golden Bears. Kay ran a time of 5:37.68 to earn two points for WNE. Vossler ran a time of 5:55.13 to place ninth for the team. Nolan Moore and Dennis Kotee placed fifth and sixth in the men's 110m hurdles. Moore earned four points with a time of 16.56, and Kotee earned three points with a time of 16.65. Fallon Lynch placed fourth for WNE in the women's 400m dash with a time of 1:02.95, earning WNE five points. Jordie Morgan placed third in the men's 400m dash with a time of 50.84. That time and place earned WNE six points. Nicholas Smith was the next WNE runner to earn points for WNE by picking up three points with a sixth-place finish in the 800m race. Smith had a time of 2:00.37. Nolan Palmer ran the 400m hurdles and placed fourth with a New England Division III Championships qualifying time of 57.55. That earned WNE five more points. Matt Provost proved to be another major highlight of the meet for WNE. Provost ran the 3,000m race and won the race with a time of 9:16.93. That earned the team ten points. Joshua Farrell also finished in the top ten in the 3,000m race with a sixth-place finish, three points, and a time of 9:50.05. The men's 4x400m relay placed sixth in the invitational. The team of Austin Vale da Serra, Evan Stewart, Frank Kelly, and Nicholas Smith earned a time of 3:45.25 and three team points. The women's 4x400m relay team placed fifth to conclude the meet. The team of Nina Garofalo, Lauren Vossler, Alyssa Clemence, and Olivia Kay ran a time of 5:00.96, earning the team four points. The Golden Bears would place eighth and fifth in the invitational for the women's and men's teams, respectively.
