Farrell, Kay Recognized By CNE For Outstanding Community Service

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 30, 2025) – The Conference of New England (CNE) office has announced the Men's and Women's Track and Field Postseason Awards for the 2025 season. WNE's Joshua Farrell and Olivia Kay were named to the CNE Community Service team due to their commitment to improving their community and sport.

The CNE's Community Service Team is one of the newest postseason awards that the CNE has added for every sport. It aims to shed light on a student-athlete from every conference member's team who serves their on-campus and off-campus community in an above-and-beyond fashion.

Joshua Farrell has been named to the CNE Men's Track and Field Community Service Team. Farrell's support of the WNE community shows through Farrell being an E-Board member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee at WNE. The Pawtucket, Rhode Island native also assists the community in Springfield, MA, by helping in the arrangement of donation drives to combat food insecurity in the local community. Farrell gives back to the sport of Track and Field by volunteering with programs all over the Massachusetts and Rhode Island region to help ground the sport and grow the love of the sport in young athletes interested in track and field.

Olivia Kay has been named to the Women's Track and Field Community Service Team for WNE. Kay volunteers with the Chris Collins Foundation, a foundation that funds a youth mental health program in the twenty-one middle and high schools across Rhode Island, Kay's home state. The South Kingstown, Rhode Island native helps organize and run their annual wiffle ball tournament, a fundraiser that occurs every summer. Kay also volunteers to help with mailings and communications for the foundation throughout the year. The sophomore women's cross country and track and field runner is helping the youth community all over Rhode Island through this community service.

CNE Community Service Team members Farrell and Kay help lead their individual Track and Field programs at Western New England University. They also go the extra mile to help their communities in Rhode Island.
