MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (March 21, 2026) – The Golden Bears were at Wesleyan University for the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic on Saturday. It was a top-notch day for the Golden Bears in both the track and the field events. WNE saw 16 athletes place in the top 8 for their respective events, gathering multiple personal records.

How it Happened:
Track Results:
On the track, the 10,000m event was the first to run, and the women saw two runners place in the top eight.
Lia Pouliot placed seventh with a time of 42:33.22, and
Caitlin Reilly placed eighth with a time of 43:16.03.
Joshua Farrell then placed fifth in the men's 10,000m event, with a time of 34:11.89. The 4x100m event saw the women's team place fifth with a time of 53:05.
Imani Brown-Taylor, Amelia Dodge,
Mackenzie Rinaldo, and
Kayla Kyles were part of that team.
Jack Straut had success for WNE in the men's 110m Hurdles, placing seventh with a time of 16.07. Then,
Taylor Labadorf ran the 400m event and placed eighth with a time of 1:02.79.
Alex Maurer placed third for the Golden Bears in the 100m dash with a time of 11.03. The final two relays were the 4x800m relay and the 4x400m relay. The women's 4x800m relay team of

Lia Pouliot,
Ava Bulmer, and
Nina Garofalo placed second with a time of 11:04.43, and the men's 4x800m relay team of
Joshua Farrell,
Pablo Tapion,
Gianni Santagata, and Lucs Franco matched them with a second place, as well. Their time was 8:39.73. The women's 4x400m relay placed sixth with a time of 4:22.80. Amelia Dodge,
Imani Brown-Taylor,
Kayla Kyles, and
Taylor Labadorf were part of that team. The men's 4x400m team also placed sixth with a time of 3:32.00.
Jerzyon Harrison-Durley,
Alex Maurer,
Nolan Palmer, and Nicholas Smith made up that team.
Field Results:
The teams did not just do well on the track, but also in the field events.
Jaidyn Gaudreau placed eighth in the women's high jump with a best mark of 1.43m.
Gabrielle Minuti and
Mackenzie Rinaldo then placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the pole vault event. They both had marks of 2.60m, but Minuti took less attempts to clear and claimed sixth place. Owen Hayes placed T-7th in the men's pole vault with a mark of 3.40m.
Kayla Kyles then placed sixth in the women's long jump with a best mark of 5.03m, and
Johan Moulema would place seventh in the men's triple jump with a best mark of 12.14m.

Both teams will be back on Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Wenham, Massachusetts. They will visit Gordon College for the Jonathan Tymann Invitational. This will be both teams' first time at this invitational.
