Golden Bears Compete for Second Consecutive Day, Taking Part in the Yellow Jacket Open

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (March 28, 2026) – The men's and women's track and field programs traveled to American International College for their second meet in two days. The Golden Bears saw mostly throwers compete at this meet, but Travis Ryley and Nina Garofalo would earn top-eight finishes on the track to go along with top-ten finishes in the field events from Jonathan Eylander, Timothy Mrachek, and Ariana Masterjohn.

How it Happened:

Track Results:

The Golden Bears had runners in the men's and women's 800m and men's and women's 1,500m events on Saturday. Owen Atkins competed in the men's 800m, placing ninth and earning a time of 2:18.92. Alyssa Clemence was part of the women's 800m, placing 13th, and having a time of 3:06.38. Travis Ryley earned a personal best time in the men's 1,500m event, earning fifth place, and a time of 4:45.01. Nina Garofalo rounded out the team's track portion of the meet, competing in the women's 1,500m event, placing seventh, earning a time of 5:24.24.

Field Results:
The top two Golden Bear throwers in the men's Discus event were Jonathan Eylander, who threw a mark of 36.15m (10th place overall), and Alex Schreiber, who had a mark of 30.69m. Avery Simmons and Hannah Baxter were the top two for WNE in the women's Discus. Simmons threw a mark of 24.95m, and Baxter had a throw of 20.81m. Timothy Mrachek was the lone Golden Bear in the men's Javelin. Mrachek had a personal best mark of 35.18m (5th place overall). Ariana Masterjohn was the lone WNE competitor in the women's Javelin. Masterjohn threw a mark of 17.04m. The men's Shot Put saw Dillon Lassard and Johnathan Eylander as the top two Golden Bears in that event. Lassard had a mark of 11.37m, and Eylander had a mark of 11.26m. Hannah Baxter and Avery Simmons were once again the top two women for WNE in the Shot Put event. Baxter had a mark of 8.61m, and Simmons had a mark of 7.15m.

Up Next on the Schedule:
  • The teams will stay in Springfield for next week's meet. They will compete in the Springfield College Classic at Blake Track in Springfield, Massachusetts, on April 4, 2026.
