GOLDen Bears Win First Meets in Program History: WNE’s Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Programs Both Place First at Billy Brockmueller Indoor Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (March 1, 2026) – The track and field programs took on the Billy Brockmueller Indoor Invitational for their second meet of the young season and showed great strides from their first meet. The team put up five first-place finishes and fourteen top-three finishes, with Jaidyn Gaudreau collecting the first individual first-place finish this season for WNE.

Track Results:

WNE started their historic day with a third-place finish in the women's 4x800m race, where Olivia Kay, Lia Pouliot, Ava Bulmer, and Nine Garofalo ran a time of 10:53.81. The men's 4x800m of Nicholas Smith, Lucas Franco, Evan Stewart, and Joshua Farrell then won their event with a time of 8:28.00. The 4x200m races excited as well as the women's team of Amelia Dodge, Kayla Kyles, Mackenzie Rinaldo, and Imani Brown-Taylor grabbed second place with a time of 1:52.50. The men's team had two top-six placing teams. Alex Maurer, Jordan Billings, Nolan Palmer, and Jack Straut won the men's 4x200m race with a time of 1:35.45. Then, the team of Ernest Panias, Owen McCarthy, Matt Lowe, and Jason Pratt placed sixth with a time of 1:41.39.
During the individual events, Imani Brown-Taylor and Kayla Kyles took second and fourth place in the 60m dash with times of 8.27 and 8.39, respectively. Then, Alex Maurer placed second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.06. The 60m hurdles saw Amelia Dodge place second and Jack Straut place fourth in their respective races. Dodge earned a time of 10.45, and Straut earned a 9.32. Joshua Farrell would get points for WNE in a distance event. Farrell placed fourth in the 1-mile event with a time of 4:41.97. The 400m event was a massive success for WNE's women's team, who placed three runners in the top six. Taylor Labadorf placed third with a time of 1:04.89, Mackenzie Rinaldo placed fourth with a time of 1:07.48, and Amelia Dodge placed fifth with a time of 1:07.77. Nolan Palmer placed in the men's 400m event with a second-place finish and a time of 52. 76.
The 800m event was highly successful for both teams, as well. The women's team saw Fallon Lynch place fourth in the event with a time of 2:42.80 and Ava Bulmer place fifth with a time of 2:45.46. The men's team had two top-six finishers, too. Nicholas Smith placed fourth and had a time of 2:04.89. Pablo Tapion placed sixth with a time of 2:13.67. The 200m event saw Gabrielle Minuti and Alex Maurer place fifth and third in their respective events. Minuti had a time of 30.64, and Maurer had a time of 23.92. The final events of the day on the track were the women's and men's 4x400m relays, and WNE won both. The women's team of Amelia Dodge, Fallon Lynch, Mackenzie Rinaldo, and Imani Brown-Taylor won with a time of 4:26.88. The men's team of Jerzyon Harrison-Durley, Nolan Palmer, Jack Straut, and Even Stewart won their event with a time of 3:41.25.
Field Results:
There were only two field events for both the men and women on Sunday. The women's Long Jump event saw Kayla Kyles place third with a mark of 4.81m and Natalia Estrada-Rangel place sixth with a mark of 4.52m. The men's Long Jump saw Tanner Crane jump  a mark of 5.95m and place fifth. The women's High Jump event saw Jaidyn Gaudreau become WNE's first individual event winner this season with a mark of 4'6". Tanner Crane then placed 5th in the men's High Jump with a mark of 5'6".
Up Next on the Schedule:
The teams will take almost three weeks off from competing before their next competition. They will compete for the first time outside at the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic in Middletown, Connecticut, at The Andersen Track on Saturday, March 21, 2026.
