SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (May 2, 2025) – The Conference of New England (CNE) office has unveiled their 2025 postseason awards, and eight Golden Bears were recognized on Thursday. WNE had three student-athletes placed in the All-Conference Second Team and four student-athletes in the All-Conference Third Team. They also had one student-athlete recognized by the conference for outstanding community service.
Jack Houlden, Thomas Labbe, and David Noel were named to the Conference of New England's Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Second Team. Houlden earns the second team nod thanks to a season that saw Houlden tally 46 points, which included 40 goals and six assists. Houlden had two game-winning goals and two man-up goals. The attackman also picked up 36 ground balls and caused ten turnovers. Thomas Labbe was picked as the short-stick midfielder who made the CNE All-Conference Second Team. Labbe scored 14 goals for the Golden Bears this year and assisted two to tally 16 points. Labbe also had three man-up goals and picked up 29 ground balls. David Noel rounded out the All-Conference Third Team for WNE. Noel recorded 14 caused turnovers during seven games played for the Golden Bears. Noel also picked up 30 ground balls during those games. Noel recorded offensive stats as a defender as well, scoring one goal and assisting another goal to end the season with two points.
The four CNE All-Conference Third Team selections for WNE's men's lacrosse team are Jacob Roy, Griffin LaRochelle, Ryan Quinlan, and Chris Catuosco. Jacob Roy had the third most points, goals, and assists for the Golden Bear offense. Roy tallied 34 points with 24 goals and 10 assists. The attackman scored two man-up goals, picked up 22 ground balls, and caused a turnover. Griffin LaRochelle played 19 games for WNE this season and had the second-most goals and points for WNE. LaRochelle put up 36 points, scoring 29 goals and assisted seven. The Golden Bear midfielder scored one game-winning goal and four man-up goals. LaRochelle caused two turnovers and picked up 13 ground balls. Ryan Quinlan was named to the All-CNE Third Team after a season that saw Quinlan lead the team in caused turnovers, with 21. The defenseman picked up 41 ground balls and scored two goals during the season. Quin played all 19 games and started 18 of them for WNE. Chris Catuosco was named to the All-Conference Third Team as a faceoff man. Catuosco led the Golden Bears in faceoff wins, winning 179 faceoffs for the team and taking 327. Catuosco picked up 103 ground balls and caused one turnover. Catuosco also scored the only man-down goal for WNE. That goal was a part of two goals and two assists for four points this season.
The Golden Bears also placed a student-athlete on the Conference of New England Community Service Team. The newest award from the CNE is designed to highlight one student-athlete from each conference member who goes above and beyond helping their on-campus and off-campus community. Anthony Gesino receives a spot on the Community Service team for WNE after Gesino's work with "Team Impact" and "Play for a Cause" throughout the year.
