Jared Kuryan has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NCAA Division III Region II All-Defensive Team, joining elite company on the team, being the only pitcher in Region II named. This is the second time in his career that the Madison, Connecticut native has been bestowed with honors for this award.
Kuryan was one of two consistent weekend starters for the Golden Bears during the 2025 season. The graduate student came away with a 4-3 record on the mound, tossing to a 3.86 ERA on the season over 11 appearances, ten starts in total. Kuryan threw 63 total innings on the year, giving up just 51 hits and 27 earned runs while walking 22 and striking out a career-high 49 batters overall. Kuryan faced 269 batters during the 2025 campaign, holding hitters to just a .219 average on the year, the lowest of his five-year career.
In the field, Kuryan shined, making 18 total putouts without committing a blemish. Kuryan also recorded six successful pickoffs during the season, a career high. The Western New England righty receives honors for the second time in his career after going a perfect 16/16 in the field during his junior campaign, a season where he solidified himself as a starter for the blue and gold. Kuryan becomes the first Golden Bear to win the award more than once in his career. The graduate student now adds this award to his resume after being named to the All-Conference teams for the third straight season.
The Western New England baseball team finished the 2025 season with a 22-20 record.
