SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (June 30, 2025) – 112 Golden Bears have been listed on the 2025 Conference of New England Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. The 112 honorees from Western New England are the most in a single year to be honored by the conference.
In January and June each academic year, the conference recognizes an Academic All-Conference Team. Each member institution is responsible for determining its qualified student-athletes. The criteria for recognition are the following:
- Must be at least a sophomore status athletically and academically, with one academic year in residence at their current institution.
- Must hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Must have been an active member of a sports roster sponsored by the Conference of New England.
The June recognition covers 11 sports, all of which are sponsored at Western New England, including men's basketball, women's basketball, men's ice hockey, women's ice hockey, baseball, softball, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, men's outdoor track & field, and women's outdoor track & field.
Graduate transfers, regardless of their enrollment at their current institution, are eligible. First-years, freshman, and undergraduate transfers in their first semester at their current institution are not eligible.
Endicott College led the conference with 147 honorees this semester. Western New England sat second with 112, while Nichols College and Suffolk University came in with 102 qualified student-athletes each. The University of Hartford came in fifth with 98 student-athletes named, Roger Williams with 87, Wentworth Institute of Technology with 96, the University of New England with 94, Curry College with 87, and Gordon College with 57. Affiliate members Colby-Sawyer College (men's tennis) (3), Johnson & Wales University (men's ice hockey & women's ice hockey) (27), and the University of Saint Joseph (4) rounded out those honored in the June 2025 edition.
Western New England saw men's ice hockey student-athletes lead the way with 15 names on the 2025 CNE Academic All-Conference list. Men's ice hockey was followed by women's lacrosse (14). Men's lacrosse and women's basketball tied with 13 student-athletes each. Baseball (12), softball (11), men's track & field (10), women's track & field (8), men's basketball (7), women's ice hockey (7), and men's tennis (2) followed.
