Golden Bears Decimate Stockton in Seven, 13-2

Box Score AUBURNDALE, Fla. (March 11, 2026) – The Western New England baseball team opened the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second inning and never looked back, pounding out 11 hits and 13 runs in a seven-inning victory over the Ospreys of Stockton University at Lake Myrtle Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Records:
  • Western New England: 3-3
  • Stockton University: 3-3
How it Happened:

First Inning:
  • Western New England's Jack Lewis worked around a one-out walk to begin play and picked up back-to-back strikeouts to send the Ospreys down in the top of the inning.
  • The Golden Bears rewarded Lewis with offense early in the ball game. Leo Paragarino was hit by a pitch with one out in the frame, quickly followed by a single from Ryan Montini, putting runners on first and second. Western New England then took three straight walks from Stockton's Colin McGeehan, a pair with the bases loaded as Connor Cowern and Greg Nivison picked up an RBI each to give Western New England the 2-0 lead.
Fourth Inning:
  • Western New England held onto its 2-0 lead through the opening three innings of the game as Lewis continued to shut down the Stockton offense, which had put up 17 runs on the Golden Bears last season and has scored a total of 52 runs on the Golden Bears over six meetings all-time.
  • The Golden Bears broke through for three more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Greg Nivison was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, while an error on the Stockton infield allowed Antonio Galizia to reach base, putting runners on second and third with no outs. Alex Grenier came through with a sacrifice fly to center field to score a run, followed by an RBI single from Leo Paragarino, doubling WNE's lead to 4-0. The Golden Bears added one more before the end of the inning when Corey Kilroy notched an RBI single to left field, giving the Golden Bears a 5-0 lead.
Fifth Inning:
  • Jack Lewis tossed the opening four innings of play, giving up just two hits to the Ospreys, while walking just one batter and striking out a pair. Aiden Bisaillon made his WNE debut on Wednesday afternoon, tossing a clean inning of work in the fifth.
  • The Golden Bears broke the game wide open in the bottom half of the inning, scoring seven times to take a commanding 12-0 lead. WNE recorded six hits in the frame, led off by Connor Cowern, who delivered a single to center field. Antonio Galizia reached on the third hit by pitch in the game, while the hit parade started with Alex Grenier recording an RBI single, and EJ Quint did the same, putting WNE ahead 7-0. Ryan Montini walked to load the bases again while Corey Kilroy delivered an infield single to give WNE an 8-0 lead. The two biggest hits of the game for Western New England came next, seeing Tyler Kornacki rope a two-RBI double to right field, followed shortly after by a Greg Nivison two-RBI double that ended the frame with the Golden Bears all over Stockton, 12-0.
Sixth Inning:
  • The Golden Bears tacked on another run in the bottom of the sixth, seeing a miscue in the Stockton infield allow Grenier to score after the senior reached on a walk earlier in the inning. Western New England saw Brody Rogers pitch a clean top of the sixth, while coming out of the inning with a 13-0 lead.
Seventh Inning:
  • With the game well in hand, two runs for Stockton weren't enough to defeat the Golden Bears as the game would end in a 13-2 final after seven innings. Jaret Sarrantonio pitched the final inning for the Golden Bears, giving up a pair of runs, helping the Golden Bears avenge last season's 17-5 loss, turning that into a 13-2 victory on Wednesday afternoon.
Inside the Lines:
  • Jack Lewis was impressive for WNE in the win, going the first four innings, giving up just two hits, and had a pair of strikeouts in his first start of the season.
  • EJ Quint, who came on as a defensive replacement in the game, ended the game with two hits, two runs scored, and an RBI for Western New England.
  • Corey Kilroy and Tyler Kornacki both recorded two hits and two RBIs each.
  • Seven Golden Bears who saw action on Wednesday picked up at least one RBI, led by Greg Nivison, who had a team-high three in the win.
Up Next on the Schedule:
  • Western New England's spring break trip continues with a doubleheader on Thursday, March 12, at 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM, taking on Thomas College at Northeast Regional Park.
