SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Junior Kristyn Villany (Red Bank, NJ) won her No. 2 singles match and captured her No. 1 doubles flight with sophomore Meredith Hughes (Springfield, MA) as second-seeded Western New England College defeated third-seeded Emmanuel College 7-2 in the semifinals of the Great Northeast Athletic Tournament (GNAC) Women's Tennis Tournament on Thursday.
Senior Monica Machon (Ellsworth, ME) and freshman Ashley Sunderland (Commack, NY) also won both their singles and doubles matches.
The Golden Bears (12-1) will visit top-seeded Simmons at 3:00 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 29) in the GNAC Tournament championship match. The contest will be held at indoor courts at Buckingham Browne & Nichols in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Simmons handed Western New England College its only loss of the season 5-4 on October 29.
