NEWTON, Mass. - Senior Pat Matthews (Middle Island, NY) scored five goals and junior Joe Cassani (Barre, VT) hit the back of the net three times as Western New England College remained undefeated in the Pilgrim League with a 16-12 victory over Lasell College.

The win gave the Golden Bears a 6-3 record and 3-0 mark in the Pilgrim League.

WNEC led 5-2 after the first period and 9-5 at half-time before breaking the game open with six goals in the third quarter for a 15-8 advantage. The Lasers scored the last four goals of the contest to make the score respectable.

Freshman Brody Savoie (Wilbraham, MA) contributed two goals and an assist while senior C.J. Annunciata (Waltham, MA) had three assists. Sophomore Adam Cherry (Westfield, MA) and freshman Kelley Luchs (Glastonbury, CT) each chipped-in with two goals. Freshman goalie Chris Body (Newtown, CT) finished with 14 saves.

Western New England College wil host city rival Springfield College at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday (April 13) at Golden Bear Stadium.
