Jenkins, Bunnell Earn Golden Bear Athlete Of The Week Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (April 7, 2026) – Western New England men's lacrosse's Logan Jenkins and women's lacrosse's Lyndsey Bunnell have picked up honors as Golden Bear Athletes of the Week after leading their respective teams to a pair of wins this past week, all in Conference of New England action. 

Jenkins played a big part in Western New England's win over Gordon College in a midweek road contest, unleashing four goals on 11 shots, putting nine shots on goal. Jenkins made the start in the victory for the Golden Bears, adding three assists, good for a seven-point night. Jenkins picked up four ground balls and caused a turnover for the Blue and Gold. To wrap up the week, Jenkins picked up a goal on four shots, putting a pair of shots on goal in the win over Roger Williams University. The WNE sophomore picked up three ground balls and caused a turnover in the victory. Jenkins ended the week with eight points, 15 shots, 11 shots on goal, seven ground balls, and two caused turnovers. 

Bunnell had a huge week for WNE women's lacrosse, which started in a road contest at Gordon College, where the Blue and Gold, led by their junior attacker, came away with a 24-3 victory. Bunnell scored three times for Western New England in the win while picking up an assist, good for a four-point night. Bunnell took four shots in the game, all on goal, and picked up a pair of ground balls and had a caused turnover, helping the Golden Bears to their eighth straight win over Gordon all-time. To wrap up the week, Bunnell had an eight-point effort against the University of Hartford, picking up two goals and six assists, seeing WNE come away with its first victory over the Hawks all-time. Bunnell took four shots, putting three on goal in the win. Bunnell had 12 total points on the week, scoring five times and adding seven assists. 

The Western New England men's lacrosse team is back at home this Wednesday, April 8, at 7:00 PM, hosting the University of Hartford. WNE women's lacrosse plays a road game against Suffolk University on the same date, also at 7:00 PM.
