Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass. -- Senior Joe Cassani (Barre, VT) and junior Adam Cherry (Westfield, MA) combined for 10 goals as the Western New England College men's lacrosse team remained undefeated in the Pilgrim League with a hard-fought 13-6 decision over Babson Saturday.
Cassani scored six goals while Cherry had four goals and an assist as the No. 19 Golden Bears improved their record to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Pilgrim League.
Western New England College jumped to a 6-1 lead after the first period as Cassani and Cherry each had three goals.
Babson freshman Matt Harrington (Hanover, MA) scored his second goal of the game with 11:06 remaining in the second stanza to cut the Beavers' deficit to four, but sophomore Brody Savoie (Wilbraham, MA) answered with 1:32 left to give the Golden Bears a 7-2 cushion at the break.
In a very physical second half, Western New England College put the game out of reach with four unanswered goals, including two more by Cassani, to build an 11-2 advantage after three periods.Â
Sophomore James Ells (Cheshire, CT) was outstanding in net for the Golden Bears, finishing with 16 saves.
Babson falls to 1-6 overall and 1-1 in the league.
