QUINCY, Mass. - Senior shortstop Ryan Kravontka (Glastonbury, CT) slugged a grand slam homer in the opener and a solo home run in the second game as the Western New England College baseball team posted a 12-5, 6-0 doubleheader victory over host Eastern Nazarene Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 8).
The wins gave the Golden Bears a 15-6 record, including a 9-1 mark in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
Sophomore catcher Jon Dominik (West Springfield, MA) added a two-run single in a nine-run third inning and WNEC took advantage of 13 walks in the first contest.
Sophomore Erich Geckle (Baldwin Place, NY) was the winning pitcher.
In the second game, freshman pitcher Evan Michaud (Windsor Locks, CT) fired a four-hit shutout striking out four and walking only one.
Junior center-fielder Chris Newell (Wallingford, CT) collected a pair of hits with two RBI and two runs.
Senior designated hitter Travis Schwamb (West Springfield, MA) contributed a RBI double and sacrifice fly.
ENC right-fielder Josh Daniels had a solo homer in the sixth inning in the opener.
Eastern Nazarene is 4-15 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
