Box Score BOSTON, Mass. - The Western New England College men's lacrosse team completed a perfect season in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) with an 11-1 victory over host Wentworth Institute of Technology Saturday night (April 25) at Sweeney Field.
The Golden Bears, who are ranked 12th nationally, finished the regular season with a 13-2 record and were 9-0 in conference contests. WNEC also extended its win streak to secven contests.
Freshman Tajh Russell (Agawam, MA) led the Golden Bears with three goals and an assist while freshman Andrew Mariani (East Brunswick, NJ) also had a four-point evening with two goals and two assists.
Wentworth took a 1-0 lead on a shot by freshman Bill Berringer (Marblehead, MA) at 12:49 of the opening period.
Freshman Patrick White (Milton, MA) quickly tied the game 1:19 later, with an assist from sophomore J. Michael Nardella (Beverly, MA), and the Golden Bears were off and running. White collected another point later in the game with an assist.
Western New England College led 4-1 after the first quarter and 7-1 at halftime.
Junior Tim Santye (Skillman, NJ) netted a pair of goals while freshman Tyler Tannock (Barrington, RI) dished out a pair of assists.
Senior Scott Kukis (Sudbury, MA), and freshmen Nick Jez (Somers, CT) and Chris Titi (Acton, MA) had the other goals. Sophomore Chris D'Angelo (Suffield, CT) contributed an assist.
Sophomore goalie Ben Barlow (Newport, RI) played the first three quarters and finished with nine saves in earning his first victory of the season.
Sophomore Jake Katz (Somersworth, NH) was in net for the final period and stopped three shots.
The Leopards evened their record at 6-6 and fell to 3-5 in the league.
