Brian Krol (Niskayuna, NY) each scored three goals as defending national men's lacrosse champion Cortland posted a 12-2 decision over Western New England College in the snow in the season opener for both teams Saturday (Feb. 27).

Jay DiStefano (Huntington, NY) each fired in two goals.
Daly and Burke also added an assist for the Red Dragons who led 3-0 after the opening period and 6-0 at half-time.
The Golden Bears scored their first goal in the third quarter by junior midfielder
Colin Houlihan (Yorktown Heights, NY) and last goal in the fourth period by sophomore attacker player
Andrew Mariani (East Brunswick, NJ).

Mike Kaminski (Sayville, NY) stopped seven shots in his collegiate debut while sophomore
Brewster Knowlton (Somers, CT) compiled 15 saves for Western New England College.
The Red Dragons held a 39-23 advantage in shots and won 11-of-17 face-offs.
Cortland was ranked first in the pre-season United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III poll while Western New England College was ranked eighth.
There were 21 inches of snow on the Cortland campus and temperatures were in the mid-30's, but school officials did a nice job getting the Stadium facility cleared for the contest.
