Tim Santye (Skillman, NJ) scored the game-winner at the 3:21 mark in overtime as the Western New England College men's lacrosse team posted a 9-8 victory over New England College Saturday afternoon (Apr. 17).
Sophomore midfielder
Patrick White (Milton, MA) assisted on the winning shot as the Golden Bears moved to 9-5 overall and 8-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).
White played a big role in the win by scoring six goals, the last one coming with 5:03 left in the fourth period that send the contest into an extra session.
Western New England College held a 2-0 lead after the opening period when White scored twice in the opening four minutes.
The Pilgrims tied the game at halftime 2-2 and opened a 5-3 advantage following a goal by junior attacker
Damian Carey (Medford, NY) with 8:14 left in the third period.
Sophomore midfielder
Billy Mason (Southborough, MA) fired in a shot a little less than three minutes later as the Golden Bears trailed by one after three quarters.
New England College (7-7, 5-3 TCCC) took its biggest lead at 7-4 by scoring two quick goals by senior attacker

Ryan Von Uffel (Cold Spring Harbor, NY) to open the final period.
White answered Von Uffel's score with a goal six seconds later with 12:20 remaining with an assist from sophomore midfielder

Freshman attacker
Corrigan Harreys (Deep River, CT) and White netted shots that tied the game 7-7 before sophomore midfielder
Sam Freihofner (Scarsdale, NY) gave the Pilgrims their last lead with 5:10 left.
Martin again won a key face-off and assisted White on his game-tying shot just seven seconds later.
NEC almost pulled off the upset when junior attacker
Matt Carey (Medford, NY) fired in a shot just after time expired.

Nick Zaleski (Somers, CT) picked-up a game-high nine ground balls and sophomore goalie
Brewster Knowlton (Somers, CT) compiled eight saves for the Golden Bears.
Carey, Freihofner, and Vozzolo each scored two goals for the hosts while sophomore middie
Jacob Flynn (Merrimack, NH) had six ground balls as did sophomore goalie
