Western New England College gets back on winning track with victory over Nichols

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.
- Senior attacker Tim Santye (Skillman, NJ) and sophomore attacker Curtis Serafini (Westford, MA) each scored two goals with an assist to power the Western New England College men's lacrosse team to a 15-1 victory over Nichols Wednesday evening (Apr. 7).

The Golden Bears, who dropped a 9-8 decision at Endicott last Saturday, improved their record to 7-4 overall and 6-1 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC). The Bison drop to 2-7 and 0-5 in the conference.

Ten players tallied goals with sophomore attacker Andrew Mariani (East Brunswick, NJ), sophomore midfielder Liam Bokanovich (Sandwich, MA), and freshman midfielder Zach Robinson (Middlebury, VT) each hitting the back of the net twice.

Sophomore midfielder Billy Mason (Southborough, MA) contributed a goal and three assists while junior midfielder Colin Houlihan (Yorktown Heights, NY) added three assists and sophomore midfielder Chris D'Angelo (Suffield, CT) two. 

Junior midfielder Anthony Monfredo (West Islip, NY) chipped-in with a goal and assist. Junior midfielder Mike Santare (South Salem, NY), sophomore attacker Chris Titi (Acton, MA) and freshman attacker Corrigan Harreys (Essex, CT) had the other goals.

Sophomore midfielder Joe Martin (Springfield, MA) won 9-of-14 face-offs while senior defender Nick Zaleski (Somers, CT) picked-up a game-high seven ground balls.

Western New England College led 3-0 at the end of the first quarter and 9-0 at intermission. Nichols trailed 14-0 before freshman attacker Matthew Caufield (Fairfield, CT) finally put the visitors on the board 4:29 into the final period with an assist from junior attacker Ryan Pacific (Danbury, CT).

Sophomore goalie Scott Gray (Annapolis, MD) was impressive with 20 saves for the Bison. Junior midfielder Sean Tarrant (Norwalk, CT) took 6-of-10 face-offs and compiled a team high four ground balls.
