WNEC sweeps doubles matches to down Wentworth for first victory of the season

BOSTON, Mass.
- The Western New England College women's tennis team captured all three doubles matches in posting an 8-1 decision over Wentworth Saturday (Sept. 11) for its first win of the season.

The Golden Bears are now 1-2 overall, which is their same mark in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC).

Juniors Nicole DeSimone (Feeding Hills, MA) and Christina Barbarisi (Feeding Hills, MA) led the way by capturing the to two singles matches, respectively.

DeSimone teamed with classmate Caitlin Hughes (Springfield, MA) for an 8-3 win at number one doubles.

Barbarisi and sophomore Linda Mustafa (Chicopee, MA) took an 8-4 victory at the number two doubles spot.

At number three doubles, juniors Jess Haffner (Suffield, CT) and Lori Pagliano (Milford, CT) came through with an 8-5 win that got the Golden Bears off to a fast start.
